How to Set Up a TRON Mainnet Wallet

Recommended TRON Wallets

Several wallets support the TRON mainnet natively, without any manual network configuration required:

  • TronLink – Official browser extension and mobile wallet by the TRON Foundation. Supports TRX, TRC-10, TRC-20, and all TRON dApps.
  • Trust Wallet – Multi-chain mobile wallet with built-in TRON mainnet support and USDT TRC-20.
  • Ledger – Hardware wallet supporting TRON via the Ledger Live app. Recommended for large holdings.
  • Klever – Mobile wallet focused on TRX and TRC-20 ecosystem.

Setting Up TronLink (Recommended)

  1. Download TronLink from the official TronLink website or your browser's extension store.
  2. Click Create Wallet and set a strong password.
  3. Back up your 12-word mnemonic phrase. Store it offline — never in a cloud service.
  4. Your TRON mainnet address is shown on the main screen. It starts with T.
  5. To receive TRX or TRC-20 tokens, share this address with the sender.

Your private key and mnemonic phrase control your funds. If lost, they cannot be recovered. Never enter them on any website or share them with anyone.

BIP44 HD Wallet Derivation Path

TRON uses BIP44 HD wallet standard. The derivation path for TRON addresses is:

m/44'/195'/0'/0/0

This means a single 24-word mnemonic phrase can generate up to 2^31 unique TRON addresses, all recoverable with the same seed.

Account Activation

A newly created TRON address is not on-chain until it receives its first deposit. Send at least 0.1 TRX or any TRC-10 token to activate it. The account creation cost is 1 TRX, charged to the sender when using the createaccount API.
